New Study: Cherokee Nation
MB
Article by M. Bellaire
One of the goals of this site is to have a variety of geographically distributed ethnobotany studies. So far, we have collected relatively little information on North American ethnobotany. Today we have added several plant species used by the Cherokee people from the book Native American Ethnobotany by Daniel E. Moerman.
There have been 102 plant species added to the site, including 51 species new to the site.
A few of the newly added species include Cimicifuga racemosa, Hydrastis canadensis, Passiflora incarnata, and others.
This is one of a small set of studies on the site from North America. We hope to collect more information on Native American ethnomedicine in the future.
