Article by M. Bellaire
We have added a new study on medicinal plants used by the Cashinahua people (also known as Huni Kuin) of the Caranja River in the Peruvian Amazon.
The survey was conducted over 11 months, between November 2010 and June 2015. Researchers conducted interviews with 10 Cashinahua traditional healers and 10 midwives. Data collected included 467 plant taxa, including 79 plant species that were unreported or rarely cited for medicinal use or phytochemical analysis.
This is an interesting set of plant species because very few have been extensively studied. We will post scientific articles on these species as they become available.
This research was published in Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine in May of 2023.
