Studies

Alchornea laxiflora (Benth.) Pax & K. Hoffman extract protects against lead-induced neurodegeneration in cockerel chickens.

Summary

Study used (EaAL) leaves to counter lead-induced neurodegeneration in cockerels. EaAL reduced neuropathologies, restored myelin, outperforming Vitamin C. Exercise caution at 200 mg/kg.

Integrating network pharmacology with molecular docking to rationalize the ethnomedicinal use of Alchornea laxiflora (Benth.) Pax & K. Hoffm. for efficient treatment of depression.

Summary

The study identified bioactive compounds in Alchornea laxiflora with potential antidepressant effects through molecular docking and network pharmacology. Key targets include SRC, EGFR, PIK3R1, AKT1, and MAPK1, suggesting a role in treating depression via PI3K-Akt and MAPK signaling pathways.

Protective Effects of Crude Plant Extracts against Aminochrome-induced toxicity in Human Astrocytoma Cells: Implications for Parkinson's Disease.

Summary

The compound aminochrome can cause brain damage and a Parkinson's-like condition. The enzyme GSTM2 in brain cells can protect against aminochrome, but sometimes the protection is not strong enough. Some medicines made from plants may also protect against aminochrome damage.
