Phytochemical Cue for the Fitness Costs of Herbicide-Resistant Weeds.

Summary

Study examines the relationship between herbicide resistance costs and phytochemical cues in weeds. Fitness and phytochemical responses were compared in six resistant weed species. Some resistant weeds showed fitness costs, while others did not. (-)-loliolide may regulate vitality and fecundity, explaining the fitness cost in herbicide-resistant weeds.
