Leonotis ocymifolia

Ethnobotanical Studies

Studies

Leonotis ocymifolia (Burm.f.) Iwarsson aerial parts aqueous extract mitigates cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity via attenuation of inflammation, and DNA damage.

Summary

Researchers found that a plant extract protected rat kidneys from chemotherapy-induced damage by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. The extract's compounds also showed stable binding to markers of inflammation. Further research is needed to establish dosage and administration guidelines.
