Researchers in Egypt isolated native fungal species from soil samples and wild host plants, discovering that they have strong antimicrobial properties against multi-drug resistant bacteria. These findings suggest that the isolates could be a potential solution to the global problem of antimicrobial resistance.
Researchers isolated a new compound (Zygo-albuside D) from the root extract of an unknown plant, along with two known compounds. Zygo-albuside D showed promising cytotoxicity against cancer cells and induced apoptotic cell death. It also inhibited a specific target (CDK-2) and showed potential as an anticancer agent.
