Acute and chronic toxicity in Sprague-Dawley rats of orally-administered total lignans from Arctii Fructus, a potential therapeutic drug for diabetes.

TLAF, a compound from Arctii Fructus, showed low toxicity in rats at 1,800 mg/kg for 26 weeks. It has potential for clinical treatment of diabetes.

Antifungal effects of carvacrol, the main volatile compound in Origanum vulgare L. essential oil, against Aspergillus flavus in postharvest wheat.

Carvacrol, found in essential oils from Origanum vulgare L., can completely inhibit the growth of Aspergillus flavus in wheat grains, making it a potential biofumigant for preventing postharvest grain contamination. Carvacrol induces oxidative stress and damages the plasma membrane and DNA of A. flavus.

Exploring the Anticancer Potential of Origanum majorana Essential Oil Monoterpenes Alone and in Combination against Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer.

Four monoterpenes in essential oil were found to decrease cell viability, reduce colony growth, and downregulate survivin expression in non-small cell lung cancer. Combinations of monoterpenes enhanced their anticancer effects, showing potential for future research.
