In Vitro Antiviral Activity of Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid against SARS-CoV-2.

NDGA, a compound in Creosote bush leaves, demonstrated inhibitory effects on SARS-CoV-2, including RNA replication and spike glycoprotein expression, at safe cell concentrations. Potential as a COVID-19 therapy.

Herb Robert's Gift against Human Diseases: Anticancer and Antimicrobial Activity of Geranium robertianum L.

In this research, the phytochemical profile of a widely distributed plant, also used in traditional medicine, was assessed. The extracts from the plant showed significant anticancer activity and also demonstrated antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal effects. The presence of organic and phenolic acids, hydrolysable tannins, and flavonoids was identified through phytochemical analysis. The extracts inhibited the development of a virus-induced cytopathic effect and reduced the viral load. Additionally, the extracts and fractions displayed versatile antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-positive bacteria. These findings support the traditional use of this plant in treating hard-to-heal wounds.

Immunomodulatory Properties of Natural Extracts and Compounds Derived from Bidens pilosa L.: Literature Review.

Researchers reviewed scientific evidence on the immunomodulatory properties of a plant. The results suggest it may have potential as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumoral, antidiabetic, and antimicrobial treatment, but further clinical trials are needed.
