Citrus limetta leaves extract antagonizes the hypertensive effect of angiotensin II.

A recent study investigated the potential antihypertensive effects of Citrus limetta Risso (Rutaceae). Using rats with induced hypertension, the researchers administered an extract of C. limetta Risso over four weeks and observed a significant decrease in blood pressure and heart rate. The study provides evidence for the traditional use of C. limetta Risso as an antihypertensive treatment. However, as the study was only conducted on rats, further research is needed to confirm these effects in humans. Nevertheless, these findings may lead to the development of new pharmacological treatments for hypertension.
