Jute (Corchorus olitorius L.) Nanocrystalline Cellulose Inhibits Insect Virus via Gut Microbiota and Metabolism.

JNCC reduced virus levels, improved gut health, increased beneficial gut bacteria, promoted antimicrobial peptides, and activated signaling pathways against the virus in honey bees. Potential antiviral agent.

Mechanism of Paris polyphylla saponin II inducing autophagic to inhibit angiogenesis of cervical cancer.

Paris polyphylla saponin II (PPII) inhibits tumor angiogenesis, but its mechanism is unknown. This study found that PPII increases autophagy in HUVEC cells through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway, thereby inhibiting Hela cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. Care because PPII could potentially be used to treat cervical cancer.

Zhi Zi Chi decoction (Gardeniae fructus and semen Sojae Praeparatum) attenuates anxious depression via modulating microbiota-gut-brain axis in corticosterone combined with chronic restraint stress-induced mice.

The researchers investigated how a traditional herbal formula called Zhi Zi Chi decoction (ZZCD) regulates the microbiota-gut-brain axis in treating anxious depression. Understanding these mechanisms could lead to improved treatments for neuropsychiatric disorders.

Four new alkaloids from the roots of Dactylicapnos scandens.

Four new alkaloids were discovered, along with five existing ones, from the bulbs. The structures were determined through analysis and calculations. They were tested for their impact on neuronal Ca mobilization in neocortical neurons. Compound showed potential in inhibiting spontaneous Ca oscillations at low concentrations.

Assessment of the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Opuntia ficus indica L. Cladodes extract.

The study evaluated the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of L. extract in rats and mice. Results showed it reduced pain and inflammation, and chemical analysis identified 20 compounds with therapeutic effects. The extract could be a promising, affordable natural remedy for pain and inflammation in small animals, but more research is needed.

A first draft genome of holm oak (Quercus ilex subsp. ballota), the most representative species of the Mediterranean forest and the Spanish agrosylvopastoral ecosystem "dehesa".

Scientists sequenced the genome of the holm oak, a valuable Mediterranean species threatened by oak decline syndrome and climate change. The genome will help identify genes related to resilience, acorn productivity, and nutraceutical properties for conservation and breeding programs.
