De novo assembly of Iron-Heart Cunninghamia lanceolata transcriptome and EST-SSR marker development for genetic diversity analysis.

Scientists sequenced the transcriptome of Iron-Heart Cunninghamia lanceolata, a Chinese fir relative with potential breeding traits. They obtained genetic information, identified molecular markers, and developed SSR primers for breeding, genetic analysis, and conservation efforts.

Comparative complete chloroplast genome of geum japonicum: evolution and phylogenetic analysis.

Researchers studied the chloroplast genome of Geum japonicum, a medicinal plant. They identified unique genes and hypervariable regions, and found that G. japonicum is closely related to Geum aleppicum and possibly Taihangia rupestris. This research enhances genome resources and provides insights for evolutionary and phylogenetic studies of Geum species.

Targeted control of supporting pathways in paclitaxel biosynthesis with CRISPR-guided methylation.

Scientists used CRISPR-guided DNA methylation and chemical inhibitors to control the phenylpropanoid pathway in plant cell cultures, increasing production of paclitaxel, an anticancer drug. This method can be used for metabolic engineering in plant cell cultures to produce valuable compounds.

Comparative RNA-seq analysis of resistant and susceptible banana genotypes reveals molecular mechanisms in response to banana bunchy top virus (BBTV) infection.

This study analyzed the response of resistant and susceptible banana genotypes to banana bunchy top virus (BBTV) infection. They identified common defense responses and specific genes related to resistance and susceptibility. The findings can help in breeding programs and developing disease-resistant banana cultivars.

A first draft genome of holm oak (Quercus ilex subsp. ballota), the most representative species of the Mediterranean forest and the Spanish agrosylvopastoral ecosystem "dehesa".

Scientists sequenced the genome of the holm oak, a valuable Mediterranean species threatened by oak decline syndrome and climate change. The genome will help identify genes related to resilience, acorn productivity, and nutraceutical properties for conservation and breeding programs.
