Phytochemistry Studies

Phytochemical Extract from Carica papaya Leaves and Punica granatum Seeds as Therapy Against Cognitive Impairment in a Murine Model.

Scientists identified potential compounds, carpaine and punicalagin, in Carica papaya leaves and Punica granatum, that may improve cognition. These compounds were tested on rats, which showed improved memory and reduced GFAP expression in the hippocampus. Promising candidates for treating MCI and MND. (44 words, 260 characters)

Purification and characterization of novel isoforms of the polyphenol oxidase from Malus domestica fruit pulp.

This study purified and characterized novel polyphenol oxidase (PPO) isoforms from Golden delicious apple pulp. The purified isoforms have optimal pH and temperature, and can oxidize catechol substrate. PPOs are important in various industries and can be used in bioremediation and biosensor development.

Phytochemical profiling and evaluation of the antidiabetic potential of Ichnocarpus frutescens (Krishna Sariva): kinetic study, molecular modelling, and free energy approach.

This research explored antidiabetic properties of a natural herb using enzyme assay and computational approaches. The herb demonstrated promising inhibitory activity against diabetes-related enzymes, with compounds showing better binding energy than a standard drug. The study suggests that the herb could be used as a medication for type 2 diabetes.
