Assessment of metabolome diversity in black and white pepper in response to autoclaving using MS- and NMR-based metabolomics and in relation to its remote and direct antimicrobial effects against food-borne pathogens.

Study dissected pepper metabolome using H-NMR, identified 18 metabolites including piperine. Aroma profiling showed abundance of β-caryophyllene. Autoclaving improved pepper aroma and revealed antimicrobial activity against food-borne bacteria.

Thrombin-induced platelet inhibition by 2',4'-dihydroxychalcone and 2',4'-dihydroxydihydrochalcone is mediated by inhibition of ROS production and Thromboxane synthase a activity: structure-activity relationship of polyphenol secondary metabolites from Empetrum nigrum.

The researchers tested compounds for inhibiting platelet activation by targeting ROS, TxS, and cyclic nucleotide pathways. Compounds and showed significant inhibition, key for potential use with P2Y12 inhibitors. Identifying new ways to control platelet activation is important for preventing clot-related diseases.

Chemical characterisation of essential oil from Sambucus williamsii Hance leaves and its hepatoprotective effects.

Essential oil from Hance leaves protects liver from injury by reducing enzymes indicating liver damage, inhibiting oxidative stress and inflammation, and modulating TLR4/NF-κB pathways. Potential treatment for liver injuries.
