Coumarins from Sarcandra glabra (Thunb.) Nakai and Acetylcholinesterase Inhibiting Activity.

Researchers isolated nine coumarins from the Sarcandra glabra plant, including a newly discovered pair of enantiomers. They tested all the compounds for acetylcholinesterase inhibiting activity and found that compound 3 showed the most significant effect with an IC value of 1.982±0.003 μM. The study confirms the potential therapeutic properties of coumarins and its ability to target Alzheimer's disease.
