Effect of Hedera helix on lung histopathology in chronic asthma.

Hedera helix (ivy) is commonly used to treat asthma, but its effects on lung histopathology are unclear. This study found that oral administration of Hedera helix reduced goblet cell counts and thickness of basement membrane in asthmatic airways, but dexamethasone was more effective in improving all histopathologic parameters except basement membrane thickness.

Anti-stress and anti-allergic effect of Actiniopteris radiata in some aspects of asthma.

The researchers studied the therapeutic potential of Actiniopteris radiata plant extracts for asthma. The ethanol extract at a higher dose significantly decreased milk-induced eosinophilia and leukocytosis in mice, validating its traditional use for asthma.
