Extracts of Sideritis scardica and Clinopodium vulgare Alleviate Cognitive Impairments in Scopolamine-Induced Rat Dementia.

Griseb. and L. extracts improved memory and preserved monoaminergic function in rats. Griseb. helped with spatial working memory, while L. showed antioxidant and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activity. The extracts also protected against impairments. More research is needed for therapeutic use.

Chronic Treatment with Nigella sativa Oil Exerts Antimanic Properties and Reduces Brain Inflammation in Rats.

Researchers studied the effects of chronic consumption of a herb called NS on manic-like behavior in rats. They found that NS had a significant antimanic-like effect and also positively modulated certain inflammatory mediators. This suggests that NS may have therapeutic benefits for mental illness.

Local Application of Acibenzolar-S-Methyl Treatment Induces Antiviral Responses in Distal Leaves of Arabidopsis thaliana.

Scientists found that the synthetic analog of salicylic acid, acibenzolar-methyl (ASM), can suppress plantago asiatica mosaic virus (PlAMV) infection in distal leaves. This antiviral effect is mediated by the co-action of salicylic acid (SA) and -hydroxypipecolic acid (NHP), and can potentially be used to enhance plant defense against viral pathogens.

Anti-Cancer and Anti-Inflammatory Properties of Black Garlic.

Black garlic has medicinal properties, including anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer effects. It reduces pro-inflammatory cytokines, scavenges free radicals, induces cell death, and inhibits cancer cell growth. It is a valuable source for therapy with fewer side effects and easier consumption than regular garlic.
