Antimicrobial and biocompatibility nature of methanol extract of Lannea coromandelica bark and edible coating film preparation for fruit preservation.

Researchers studied the antimicrobial activity of Lannea coromandelica bark extract against fungi and bacteria, and found it to be effective. They also determined its biocompatibility and its potential for preserving fruit by creating an edible coating with chitosan. Coated fruit had improved quality compared to uncoated fruit.

Hypoglycemic activity of immature persimmon (Diospyros kaki Thunb.) extracts and its inhibition mechanism for α-amylase and α-glucosidase.

Immature persimmons contain Hederagenin, Ursolic acid, and Quercetin dehydrate, which inhibit α-amylase and α-glucosidase enzymes, reducing hyperglycemia. They have potential for treating diabetes mellitus.

Danshensu inhibits SARS-CoV-2 by targeting its main protease as a specific covalent inhibitor and discovery of bifunctional compounds eliciting antiviral and anti-inflammatory activity.

Salvia miltiorrhiza and its active ingredient Danshensu have shown to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 and possess anti-inflammatory properties. Danshensu is a covalent inhibitor of the 3CL protease of SARS-CoV-2, making it a potential candidate for targeted drug development against COVID-19.

Antifungal effects of carvacrol, the main volatile compound in Origanum vulgare L. essential oil, against Aspergillus flavus in postharvest wheat.

Carvacrol, found in essential oils from Origanum vulgare L., can completely inhibit the growth of Aspergillus flavus in wheat grains, making it a potential biofumigant for preventing postharvest grain contamination. Carvacrol induces oxidative stress and damages the plasma membrane and DNA of A. flavus.

Investigating the multitargeted anti-diabetic potential of cucurbitane-type triterpenoid from Momordica charantia: an LC-MS, docking-based MM\GBSA and MD simulation study.

A cucurbitane-type triterpene exhibited anti-diabetic properties, showing favorable binding energy, stability, pharmacokinetic, and toxicity properties. It has potential as an anti-diabetic drug candidate, but further research is needed.
