A new compound, Ternifoliasaponin, along with four known compounds, were isolated from a plant. They were tested for antibacterial and antimicrobial activity, showing moderately sensitive effects against certain microorganisms.
Researchers evaluated the Yellow Bean Collection (YBC) to understand anthracnose resistance in yellow beans. They identified genotypes with superior resistance and identified major-effect loci and candidate genes associated with resistance. This information can be used to develop strategies for disease control in common bean crops.
Scientists studied the 5th day germinated sprouts of seeds for their potential as an anticancer therapy. The sprouts were found to inhibit HDAC activity and have antioxidant properties, making them a promising alternative for preventing liver diseases. Thymoquinone, a compound found in the sprouts, showed strong interaction with HDAC protein.
This study evaluated bioactive compounds from a small tree against PPAR-γ, a target for diabetes management. Quercetin-3-o-rutinoside and other compounds showed potential as anti-diabetic agents and may act as PPAR-γ agonists.
An Algerian traditional medicine extract was found to effectively reduce pain in rats, both peripherally and centrally. Molecular docking suggests the compound in the extract interacts well with pain-related proteins, validating its traditional use as an analgesic.
Low molecular weight polysaccharide (GP) improves gut health and boosts immune system by increasing immune cells, cytokines, and beneficial gut bacteria while reducing harmful bacteria. GP could be a potential treatment for intestinal inflammatory diseases.
Cassava leaves' extract (CAS) was tested on an Alzheimer's disease (AD)-like model induced by amyloid-beta (Aβ) 25-35 peptide. Results showed that CAS has neuroprotective effects on oxidative balance and memory deficits.
