Toxicity and antitumor activity of the water-soluble lectin from Moringa oleifera Lam. Seeds (WSMoL) in sarcoma 180-bearing mice.

This study investigates the toxicity and antitumor activity of WSMoL, a lectin from Moringa oleifera seeds. Acute toxicity was seen at high doses, but no significant harm was observed at lower doses. WSMoL also reduced tumor weight and enhanced immune function in the tumor environment. This suggests that WSMoL may have potential as an antitumor agent.

Comparative effects of nutraceuticals on body weight in adults with overweight or obesity: A systematic review and network meta-analysis of 111 randomized clinical trials.

Various nutraceuticals, including spirulina, curcumin, psyllium, chitosan, and Nigella sativa, showed slight potential for weight improvement in overweight or obese adults. Green tea and glucomannan also resulted in small weight loss, but with less certainty. Nutraceutical supplementation could lead to modest weight loss in those with overweight or obesity.

Cactus flour (Opuntia ficus-indica) reduces brain lipid peroxidation and anxious-like behavior in old Wistar rats.

This study found that elderly rats fed with cactus flour showed reduced anxiety-like behavior and decreased brain lipid peroxidation. Cactus pear could potentially prevent or treat anxiety in aging individuals due to its nutritional contents.
