Evaluating β-cryptoxanthin antioxidant properties against ROS-induced macromolecular damages and determining its photo-stability and in-vitro SPF.

The study found that β-cryptoxanthin, derived from Kocuria marina DAGII, is a potent antioxidant that can protect against damage caused by Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS). It can prevent lipid peroxidation, protein oxidation, and DNA damage. It also has UV protection capabilities.

Dose effects of restorer gene modulate pollen fertility in cotton CMS-D2 restorer lines via auxin signaling and flavonoid biosynthesis.

The study examined gene alleles in CMS-D2 cotton and found that the homozygous RfRf genotype had higher fertility than the heterozygous Rfrf genotype. Key genes and metabolites were identified, and over-activation of auxin signaling was found to inhibit pollen development. These findings shed light on the regulation of pollen fertility in CMS-D2 cotton.

Efficacy and mechanism study of Baichanting compound, a combination of Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. and Maxim.) Harms, Paeonia lactiflora Pall and Uncaria rhynchophylla (Miq.) Miq. ex Havil, on Parkinson's disease based on metagenomics and metabolomics.

Researchers investigated the potential of Baichanting Compound (BCT), a Chinese herbal prescription, to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). BCT contains Acanthopanax senticosus, Paeonia lactiflora, and Uncaria rhynchophylla. This study may provide insights into a novel treatment option for PD.

Multiplex genotyping of SNPs in genomic DNA via hydrogel-based assay mediated with MutS and polyethylene glycol.

Hydrogel-based platform enables PCR-free multiplex genotyping of SNPs in genomic DNA using a single fluorophore, increasing specificity and allowing genotyping of large DNA sizes. Application includes origin identification of raw materials and potential for precision medicine and food product authentication.

Adjuvant activities of immunostimulating natural products: Astragalus membranaceus (Fisch.) Bge. and Coriolus versicolor in BNT162b2 vaccination against COVID-19 infection.

Researchers found that combining the water extract of Astragalus membranaceus and Coriolus versicolor with the mRNA vaccine BNT162b2 enhanced the vaccine's effectiveness against both ancestral and variant forms of SARS-CoV-2. This combination could potentially improve protection against COVID-19.
