Identification and characterization of CYC2-like genes related to floral symmetric development in Tagetes erecta (Asteraceae).

Scientists discovered and cloned seven TeCYC2 genes in marigold, altering the symmetry of Arabidopsis flowers when expressed, revealing their interaction and potential applications in molecular breeding for varied flower forms.

Zhizi-Chuanxiong herb pair alleviates atherosclerosis progression in ApoE(-/-) mice by promoting the methylation of FGFR3 to inhibit MAPK/ERK-mediated apoptosis.

Gardenia Fructus and Chuanxiong Rhizoma, traditional Chinese medicines, were studied for treating atherosclerosis. They were found to have vascular protective effects, detoxify and activate blood, with potential implications for new AS treatments.

Matrine disrupts Nrf2/GPX4 antioxidant system and promotes hepatocyte ferroptosis.

Matrine, a compound from Sophora flavescens, causes liver injury by disrupting antioxidant pathways and inducing ferroptosis. This study shows that MT reduces cell viability, increases oxidative stress, and alters iron homeostasis. The cytotoxic effects can be reversed by ferroptosis inhibitors, Nrf2 agonists, or selenium supplementation.

Escin avoids hemorrhagic transformation in ischemic stroke by protecting BBB through the AMPK/Cav-1/MMP-9 pathway.

Escin, found in Aesculus hippocastanum, stabilizes the blood-brain barrier to mitigate hemorrhagic transformation (HT) caused by recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA). Important for safer use of rt-PA in clinical applications.
