Polysaccharides from Platycodon grandiflorus attenuates high-fat diet induced obesity in mice through targeting gut microbiota.

Researchers found that polysaccharides from Platycodon grandiflorus root reduced weight gain in mice, altered expression of lipid metabolism genes, and changed gut microbiota, suggesting potential as an anti-obesity treatment.

In Vitro Antiproliferative Apoptosis Induction and Cell Cycle Arrest Potential of Saudi Sidr Honey against Colorectal Cancer.

Sidr honey from Saudi Arabia was tested on colorectal, breast, and lung cancer cells. It showed potential as an antitumor agent by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest. Further research is needed to identify and understand the active compounds.

Mechanistic Action of Cell Cycle Arrest and Intrinsic Apoptosis via Inhibiting Akt/mTOR and Activation of p38-MAPK Signaling Pathways in Hep3B Liver Cancer Cells by Prunetrin-A Flavonoid with Therapeutic Potential.

Prunetrin, a plant-derived compound, has shown anti-cancer properties in liver cancer cells. It decreases cell viability, arrests the cell cycle, promotes apoptosis, and inhibits signaling pathways. Promising potential treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma.

Unripe Rubus occidentalis, Ellagic Acid, and Urolithin A Attenuate Inflammatory Responses in IL-1β-Stimulated A549 Cells and PMA-Stimulated Differentiated HL-60 Cells.

Unripe fruit contains polyphenols, including ellagic acid (EA), which improves type 2 inflammation and airway hyperresponsiveness in asthma. EA is converted to urolithin A (UA) by gut bacteria, which has anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, EA, unripe fruit water extract (uRO-w), and UA reduced inflammation and oxidative stress in lung and neutrophil cells, suggesting they could be used as treatments for respiratory diseases.

Transcriptome Analysis Reveals Changes in Whole Gene Expression, Biological Process, and Molecular Functions Induced by Nickel in Jack Pine (Pinus banksiana).

This study examined the gene expression of plants exposed to nickel stress. It found changes in gene expression related to stress response and metabolic processes. This information can be used to improve plant use in environmental remediation.
