Gut enterotype-dependent modulation of gut microbiota and their metabolism in response to xanthohumol supplementation in healthy adults.

Xanthohumol (XN), a compound in hops, has health benefits. A study found that XN does not significantly change gut microbiota composition, but does affect individual taxa and bile acid metabolism in an enterotype-dependent way. Individual responses to XN vary, suggesting personalized effects on gut health.

Cannabidiol activates MAPK pathway to induce apoptosis, paraptosis, and autophagy in colorectal cancer cells.

CBD, found in Cannabis sativa, induces cell death in colorectal cancer cells. It activates the MAPK pathway, leading to apoptosis, paraptosis, and autophagy. This suggests that CBD could be a potential treatment for colorectal cancer.

Apium extract alleviates indomethacin-induced gastric ulcers in rats via modulating the VEGF and IK-κB/NF-κB p65 signaling pathway: insights from in silico and in vivo investigations.

Researchers studied the potential of celery seed extract to prevent indomethacin-induced stomach ulcers in rats. This may lead to a new treatment or prevention approach for gastric ulcers.

Effect of Polygonatum sibiricum saponins on gut microbiota of mice with ulcerative colitis.

Polygonatum sibiricum saponins (PSS) improved symptoms and pathology in colitis mice induced with dextran sulfate sodium (DSS). PSS restored intestinal microbial balance, reduced pathogenic bacteria, and increased beneficial bacteria, suggesting its potential therapeutic role in ulcerative colitis.

Intestinal Microbiome Metabolism of Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) Proanthocyanidin Dimers, but Not Trimers, Is Altered by Dysbiosis in Ulcerative Colitis Ex Vivo.

Cranberries have chemical variations that affect how they are metabolized by gut bacteria. Healthy microbiomes produce more beneficial compounds from cranberries than ulcerative colitis microbiomes. The metabolism of a specific cranberry compound called procyanidin B2 is key for this difference.

Effects of the protective and therapeutic effect of yogurt enriched with Citrus sinensis essential oil against ibuprofen-induced gastric ulcer in elderly rats.

This study found that adding Citrus sinensis essential oil to yogurt increased acidity, total solids, and ash values. Rats fed with this functional yogurt had fewer gastric ulcer lesions compared to the control group. This suggests that yogurt with C. sinensis EO may help reduce the severity of ulcers and improve health.

Complex insoluble dietary fiber alleviates obesity and liver steatosis, and modulates the gut microbiota in C57BL/6J mice fed a high-fat diet.

Researchers studied the effects of insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) on obesity, inflammation, and diabetes. IDF has positive effects on these conditions, making it important for overall health.
