FtsH proteases confer protection against salt and oxidative stress in Medicago sativa L.

We found that MsFtsH proteins in alfalfa play a vital role in adapting to abiotic stress like salt and oxidative stress. By overexpressing MsFtsH8, we improved stress tolerance and antioxidant activity, suggesting potential for breeding resilient crops.

Antioxidant activity of Carica papaya & Persea americana fruits against cadmium induced neurotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and hepatotoxicity in rats with a computational approach.

Researchers investigated the harmful effects of cadmium on cells, including liver damage, neurotoxicity, and cancer. Current treatments have side effects, so finding safe ways to remove cadmium from the body is crucial.

Analysis of the phytochemical components of Prunella vulgaris using high-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry combined with molecular networking and assessment of their antioxidant and anti-α-glucosidase activities.

Total phenolic and flavonoid concentrations of Prunella vulgaris varied across geographical regions. Antioxidant and anti-α-glucosidase activities were found to be superior in flavonoids. Analysis identified 32 compounds, confirming potential use of P. vulgaris as functional tea.

Bacillus megaterium RTS1 enhances resistance of Lycopersicon esculentum to salinity stress through the improvement of antioxidant defenses.

Researchers optimized RTS1 and found that plant growth-promoting bacteria (PGPB) can mitigate salinity stress in tomatoes. This is significant for improving tomato growth in salt-affected soils.

Phytocompounds from essential oil of Mentha aquatica L. cv. Lime prevent vemurafenib-promoted skin carcinogenesis via inhibiting HRAS(Q61L) keratinocytes and reprogramming macrophage activities.

BRAF inhibitors like vemurafenib can cause squamous cell carcinomas in roughly 20-30% of melanoma patients. It's important to be aware of this side effect when prescribing these drugs.

Antioxidant activity of Flemingia praecox and Mucuna pruriens and their implications for male fertility improvement.

Globally, male infertility is a major problem and reactive oxygen species (ROS) contribute to 80% of idiopathic cases. Medicinal plants like Mucuna pruriens and Flemingia praecox can improve male fertility by eliminating ROS. This study confirms the higher antioxidant activity of F. praecox and suggests its use in managing male infertility.

Eco-corona formation diminishes the cytogenotoxicity of graphene oxide on Allium cepa: Role of soil extracted-extracellular polymeric substances in combating oxidative stress.

Scientists studied the toxicity of graphene oxide (GO) on Allium cepa root tip cells and the role of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS). Pristine GO caused genotoxic effects through oxidative stress, but EPS-corona on GO reduced toxicity by reducing oxidative stress within cells.
