Chemical characterization, antioxidant and antidiabetic activities of a novel polyherbal formulation comprising of Hordeum vulgare, Elettaria cardamomum and Cicer arietinum extracts.

The researchers formulated poly-herbal granules (PHGs) using seeds of and to manage diabetes. The PHGs showed antioxidant and antidiabetic potential due to the presence of flavonoids and phenolic acid derivatives.

In vitro production of steroidal saponin, total phenols and antioxidant activity in callus suspension culture of Paris polyphylla Smith: an important Himalayan medicinal plant.

The study optimized the cultivation technique for callus suspension of the Smith (Melanthiaceae) plant. It found that 0.5 μM TDZ resulted in the maximum callus biomass, while 50 μM MeJA showed significant phenolic content and antioxidant activity. The research has commercial implications for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical sectors.

A combination of isoliquiritigenin with Artemisia argyi and Ohwia caudata water extracts attenuates oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis by modulating Nrf2/Ho-1 signaling pathways in SD rats with doxorubicin-induced acute cardiotoxicity.

The combination of Artemisia argyi and Ohwia caudata extracts with isoliquiritigenin can protect against doxorubicin-induced cardiac damage. It activates the AKT/PI3K signaling pathway and upregulates antioxidant markers, while inhibiting inflammatory response genes. Promising for cardiac hypertrophy and inflammatory disease treatment.

Herbal melanin modulates PGE2 and IL-6 gastroprotective markers through COX-2 and TLR4 signaling in the gastric cancer cell line AGS.

The study found that a herbal melanin derived from Nigella sativa upregulated the TLR4 receptor, increased COX-2 expression, and promoted the secretion of PGE2 and IL-6 in AGS cells. This suggests that the melanin may have gastroprotective effects and potential benefits for gastric prevention and treatment.
