This study analyzed the chemical composition and biological activities of blackthorn fruit from Serbia. The fruit showed high levels of phenolics, flavonoids, and anthocyanins with antioxidant and enzyme inhibitory effects. The fruit also exhibited antimicrobial and prebiotic properties, making it a promising functional food.
Summary: In this study, we investigated the chemical composition and properties of leaf extracts from (Asteraceae), a plant traditionally used in folk medicine. We found that the extracts had high levels of phenols and flavonoids, and exhibited strong antioxidant activity. The extracts also showed dose-dependent cytotoxic effects on cancer cells and increased the number of apoptotic cells. Additionally, the extracts increased reactive oxygen species levels. Molecular docking identified two compounds with high binding affinities. This study highlights the potential health benefits of leaf extracts and suggests further research to identify the active compounds.
A study discovered that APALE, derived from Phyllanthus amarus, can protect against neurotoxicity caused by PDc. It improves cognitive function, regulates antioxidants and GABA levels, and reduces neuroinflammation, suggesting its potential as a neurotoxicity treatment.
