Researchers obtained a polyphenolic-rich extract from Tageres erecta flowers. In vitro and in vivo experiments showed potential anti-diabetic and anti-obesity effects. Polyphenols from T. erecta can be considered as bioactive compounds for preventing metabolic chronic diseases.
Researchers found that traditional Asian medicines, WS and TC, showed potential in combating COVID-19. Among the two, WS proved more effective in protecting against weight loss, viral load, and lung damage. WS also suppressed pro-inflammatory cytokines without harming neutrophil activity, suggesting its potential for treating other acute viral infections.
The study tested the effectiveness of L. extract (EAV) in treating epilepsy caused by strychnine, compared to the commonly used medication phenytoin (PHY). Results showed that EAV had a significantly higher success rate in reducing seizures and improving motor coordination, with fewer side effects. These findings suggest the potential for using EAV as a safer and more effective alternative treatment for epilepsy.
