Bioprocessing of Epothilone B from Aspergillus fumigatus under solid state fermentation: Antiproliferative activity, tubulin polymerization and cell cycle analysis.

Researchers optimized the production of epothilone, a potent anticancer drug, by growing Aspergillus fumigatus on orange peels. The extracted epothilone showed activity against various cancer cells and caused growth arrest in HepG2 cells. This finding suggests a potential commercial source of epothilone.
