Chemoprofiling and antimicrobial activity of medicinal herbs used in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease.

This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of five herbs used to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Saudi Arabia. The herbs showed good activity against E. coli and S. aureus, suggesting their potential as natural remedies for IBD.

Piperine promotes PI3K/AKT/mTOR-mediated gut-brain autophagy to degrade α-Synuclein in Parkinson's disease rats.

Scientists studied the herb Piper longum and its main compound, piperine, to understand how it protects against Parkinson's disease. They found that piperine promotes a process called autophagy, which helps degrade harmful proteins in the gut and brain. This research may lead to new treatments for Parkinson's disease.
