Genome-Wide Identification and Characterization of Major RNAi Genes Highlighting Their Associated Factors in Cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.).

This study identified 28 VuRNAi genes in cowpea that play a role in protecting the plant from biotic and abiotic stresses. These genes can contribute to improved grain quality, immunity, and resistance to pathogens, salinity, and drought. The findings will help develop more resilient cowpeas.

Genome sequencing of Syzygium cumini (jamun) reveals adaptive evolution in secondary metabolism pathways associated with its medicinal properties.

Scientists sequenced the genome and transcriptome of a medicinal tree, revealing neopolyploidy and adaptive evolution in genes involved in secondary metabolite biosynthesis and stress tolerance mechanisms. This information is relevant for understanding the pharmacological properties of the tree, including its anti-diabetic effects.

Okra [Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) Moench] improved blood glucose and restored histopathological alterations in splenic tissues in a rat model with streptozotocin-induced type 1 diabetes through CD8(+) T cells and NF-kβ expression.

This study investigated the effects of okra extract on diabetic rat models. Okra improved blood glucose levels, reversed histopathological alterations in spleen tissue, and regulated CD8 T cells and NF-kβ expression.

Begomovirus and DNA-satellites association with mosaic and leaf curl disease of Solanum nigrum and Physalis minima: the new hosts for chilli leaf curl virus.

The researchers collected plants with mosaic, enation, and leaf curl symptoms. They confirmed begomovirus infection and identified a novel betasatellite. These plants could serve as reservoir hosts for infecting chili plants.
