N6-methyladenosine modification of TSC1 mRNA contributes to macrophage polarization regulated by Coptisine in DSS-induced ulcerative colitis.

This study investigates how coptisine (COP), derived from Coptis chinensis, inhibits macrophage inflammation in ulcerative colitis (UC). COP's protective mechanism against UC in mice induced with dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) is explored.

Targeted knockout of early nodulin-like 3 (MusaENODL3) gene in banana reveals its function in resistance to Xanthomonas wilt disease.

Researchers used CRISPR/Cas9 to disrupt the MusaENODL3 gene in bananas infected with Xanthomonas campestris bacteria, making the plants resistant to banana Xanthomonas wilt disease. This could help improve disease resistance in banana crops, important for tropical farmers who rely on bananas for food and income.

Molecular identification of keratinophilic fungi associated with hair scalp and antifungal activity of green-synthesis zinc oxide nanoparticles.

Fungal imbalances in human hair and skin can lead to diseases. Scalp samples identified common yeast-like species, and ginger-derived zinc oxide nanoparticles have potential in controlling them. Proper care is crucial, and zinc oxide nanoparticles show promise in addressing the issue.

Effects of sage (Salvia officinalis) essential oil on growth, health and antioxidant capacity of common carp (Cyprinus carpio).

In this study, the effects of sage oil on carp were investigated. Sage oil did not affect growth, but increased antioxidant activity and improved gut health. It also increased fertility and disease resistance against A. hydrophila infection. Use of sage oil is recommended in carp farming.

Citronella essential oil-based nanoemulsion as a post-emergence natural herbicide.

Researchers created a citronella-based herbicide using a microfluidization method. The nanoemulsion effectively killed narrow- and broadleaf weeds by damaging plant membranes and reducing chlorophyll and carotenoid content, making it a potential sustainable herbicide option for agriculture.

In vitro and in vivo antimalarial activity, cytotoxicity and phytochemical HRMS2 profile of plants from the Western Pará State, Brazilian Amazon.

Researchers assessed 11 plants from Santarém City in the Brazilian Amazonia for their antimalarial properties. Acmella oleracea, Siparuna krukovii, and Trema micrantha showed the highest inhibition of parasite growth. The ethanol extract of A. oleracea flowers holds promise for developing antimalarial phytomedicine.
