Investigation of physicochemical and biological properties of bacterial cellulose & zein-reinforced edible nanocomposites based on flaxseed mucilage containing Origanum vulgare L. essential oil.

The researchers studied the effect of zein and bacterial cellulose on flaxseed mucilage/carboxymethyl cellulose composite. Zein improved the mechanical and barrier properties, while zein particles encapsulated oregano essential oil, delaying its release for extended antimicrobial effect.

Immune regulation and inflammation inhibition of Arctium lappa L. polysaccharides by TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway in cells.

Scientists extracted and purified polysaccharides from burdock roots, which showed antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects in cells. It has potential as a functional food or nutraceutical to improve the immune system and treat intestinal inflammation.

LARVICIDAL AND FUNGICIDAL ACTIVITY OF THE LEAF ESSENTIAL OIL OF FIVE MYRTACEAE SPECIES.

This study extracted and characterized essential oils (EOs) from Myrtaceae species. EOs from Eugenia species had high larvicidal activity against Aedes aegypti, while S. cumini showed strong fungicidal effects. Chemical diversity in these EOs contributes to their different biological activities.

De novo assembly of Iron-Heart Cunninghamia lanceolata transcriptome and EST-SSR marker development for genetic diversity analysis.

Scientists sequenced the transcriptome of Iron-Heart Cunninghamia lanceolata, a Chinese fir relative with potential breeding traits. They obtained genetic information, identified molecular markers, and developed SSR primers for breeding, genetic analysis, and conservation efforts.

Effects of topping on rhizome, and analysis of chemical composition, antioxidant activity and α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition of the aerial parts in Polygonatum cyrtonema.

Topping the aerial part of Polygonatum cyrtonema increases rhizome yield and saponin content. The stem, leaves, and flowers have strong antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities, along with high polyphenol, flavonoid, protein, and amino acid content. This research suggests the potential for developing these parts for various applications.

Comparative complete chloroplast genome of geum japonicum: evolution and phylogenetic analysis.

Researchers studied the chloroplast genome of Geum japonicum, a medicinal plant. They identified unique genes and hypervariable regions, and found that G. japonicum is closely related to Geum aleppicum and possibly Taihangia rupestris. This research enhances genome resources and provides insights for evolutionary and phylogenetic studies of Geum species.
