Exploring the mechanism of resistance to vincristine in breast cancer cells using transcriptome sequencing technology.

Scientists investigated the development of resistance to vincristine (VCR), a chemotherapy drug used for breast cancer treatment. By analyzing gene expression and splicing events, they identified changes in the VCR-resistant breast cancer cell line. This study lays the foundation for understanding VCR resistance and developing potential treatments.

Repeated loss of the ability of a wild pepper disease resistance gene to function at high temperatures suggests that thermoresistance is a costly trait.

Study examines resistance genes in domesticated pepper relative and finds lower resistance in cultivated populations. Genes show different recognition and expression at various temperatures. Domestication leads to loss of resistance, with broad-spectrum resistance at higher temperatures having fitness costs.

Identifying cis-Acting Elements Associated with the High Activity and Endosperm Specificity of the Promoters of Genes Encoding Low-Molecular-Weight Glutenin Subunits in Common Wheat (Triticum aestivum).

Scientists identified two genes involved in the expression regulation of low-molecular-weight glutenin subunits (LMW-GSs) in wheat. Understanding this could lead to the development of wheat as a bioreactor for producing beneficial substances.

Comparative transcriptome analysis of dioecious floral development in Trachycarpus fortunei using Illumina and PacBio SMRT sequencing.

Trachycarpus fortunei is an economically and aesthetically valuable plant. This study used sequencing to understand how the plant determines its male or female flowers, which could have implications for better cultivation and hybridization practices.

Phytohormones and candidate genes synergistically regulate fruitlet abscission in Areca catechu L.

Researchers studied the process of fruitlet abortion in Areca catechu, a plant with low yield due to frequent abscission. They analyzed hormone levels in abscised and non-abscised fruitlets to understand the physiological and molecular variations.

The variations in gene expression of GAPDH in Ocimum basilicum cultivars under drought-induced stress conditions.

Researchers investigate the role of a protein in basil plants under drought stress. They study the gene encoding this protein, predict its role in oxidative stress, and examine its expression patterns under water scarcity. Findings may aid crop improvement strategies.

The effect of Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide extract on sensitizing prostate cancer cells to flutamide and docetaxel: an in vitro study.

The study found that Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide, when used in combination with Docetaxel and Flutamide, significantly enhanced apoptosis, reduced cell migration and colonization, and decreased the expression of prostate cancer biomarkers. This suggests that Ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide could be a new potential therapy for prostate cancer.
