Antioxidant activity of Flemingia praecox and Mucuna pruriens and their implications for male fertility improvement.

Globally, male infertility is a major problem and reactive oxygen species (ROS) contribute to 80% of idiopathic cases. Medicinal plants like Mucuna pruriens and Flemingia praecox can improve male fertility by eliminating ROS. This study confirms the higher antioxidant activity of F. praecox and suggests its use in managing male infertility.

Cytotoxic/antiproliferative and nutraceutical activity of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of green and mature Averrhoa carambola.

A study on Averrhoa carambola fruit found it rich in nutrients and vitamins, with higher antioxidant activity and potential health benefits. It could be a valuable source of nutraceutical compounds.

Crocin Ameliorates Diabetic Nephropathy through Regulating Metabolism, CYP4A11/PPARγ, and TGF-β/Smad Pathways in Mice.

Crocin from Crocus sativus L. can reduce oxidative stress and inflammation in diabetic nephropathy. However, the exact mechanism of action is unclear. Important for potential treatment of DN.

Chromosome-level phased genome assembly of 'Antonovka' identified candidate apple scab resistance genes highly homologous to HcrVf2 and HcrVf1 on linkage group 1.

Scientists used long-read sequencing and genome analysis to identify candidate resistance genes for apple scab in 'Honeycrisp' and 'Antonovka' apples. This study provides valuable genomic resources and potential genes to further understand and enhance resistance to apple scab.

The expression of the NPR1-dependent defense response pathway genes in Persea americana (Mill.) following infection with Phytophthora cinnamomi.

This study examined the NPR1 pathway in the defense against Phytophthora cinnamomi in avocado. The findings suggest that the Dusa® rootstock suppresses SA-signaling more effectively and has better defense gene expression compared to R0.12. This provides valuable insights into avocado resistance to P. cinnamomi.

Comprehensive phytochemical characterization of Persea americana Mill. fruit via UPLC/HR-ESI-MS/MS and anti-arthritic evaluation using adjuvant-induced arthritis model.

Avocado fruit extract was found to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties in vitro. In an arthritis model, it improved paw parameters, inflammatory mediators, and showed improvements in arthritic conditions. Avocado fruit could be a powerful natural product for antioxidants and anti-arthritis effects.
