Minor alkaloids from an aqueous extract of the hook-bearing stem of Uncaria rhynchophylla.

Scientists isolated seven new monoterpene alkaloids and 16 known analogues from a plant. They determined their structures using spectroscopic analysis and X-ray diffraction. The compounds have unique structures and belong to a novel type of alkaloids.

Spilanthes acmella Extract-Based Natural Oils Loaded Emulgel for Anti-Microbial Action against Dermatitis.

Scientists developed a herbal emulgel containing spilanthol to treat dermal bacterial infections. This is important because current antimicrobial treatments are becoming less effective due to increasing resistance from microbes.

Design and Development of a Topical Nanogel Formulation Comprising of a Unani Medicinal Agent for the Management of Pain.

Scientists developed a nanogel delivery system for chamomile oil to treat pain. In vitro and in vivo studies showed enhanced skin penetration, improved pain threshold, and reduced skin irritation, making it a promising treatment for migraines.

Unraveling the Polysaccharide Biosynthesis Potential of Ganoderma lucidum: A Chromosome-Level Assembly Using Hi-C Sequencing.

Scientists sequenced the genome of a fungus that can produce potentially effective pharmaceutical compounds. The study provides valuable information on the genes involved in polysaccharide biosynthesis and expands our understanding of fungal genomics.

Effects of Interaction of Protein Hydrolysate and Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Effects on Citrus Growth and Expressions of Stress-Responsive Genes (Aquaporins and SOSs) under Salt Stress.

Protein hydrolysates and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi improve crop growth and reduce damage from salt stress. They enhance nutrient absorption, sodium effluxion, and the expression of stress-responsive genes in citrus plants. The combined application of both is more effective.

The Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles from Avena fatua Extract: Antifungal Activity against Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici.

Scientists used plant extracts to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and tested their antifungal activity against a fungal plant pathogen. The AgNPs showed significant antifungal activity and the study suggests using plant extracts for green synthesis of AgNPs as a sustainable and effective approach for plant protection.

Effects of Origanum majorana on Breast Cancer Cells: An Alternative to Chemotherapy?

Study examined the effects of marjoram extracts on breast cancer cells and normal breast tissue cells. Marjoram extracts showed cytotoxic effect on cancer cells and no major effects on normal cells. This suggests marjoram extracts could be a promising alternative to chemotherapy for breast cancer treatment.
