Comprehensive in silico analysis of the underutilized crop tef (Eragrostis tef (Zucc.) Trotter) genome reveals drought tolerance signatures.

Researchers used computer-based analysis to identify genes in tef that respond to drought. This information can help improve crop productivity and global food security.

Efficacy of various extracting solvents on phytochemical composition, and biological properties of Mentha longifolia L. leaf extracts.

This study examined the effects of different solvents on extracts from Moroccan Mentha longifolia leaves. The hydroethanolic extract had the highest phenolic and flavonoid content, best antioxidant capacity, and highest reducing power. The extracts also showed antibacterial activity.

Divergent outcomes of genetic conflict on the UV sex chromosomes of Marchantia polymorpha and Ceratodon purpureus.

This study compares two plant species, Marchantia polymorpha and Ceratodon purpureus, and their genetic mechanisms for sexual dimorphism. The findings suggest that different species exhibit distinct ways of controlling sexual development, which emphasizes the need for further research in understanding the evolution of sexual dimorphism.

Aqueous Extracts of Ocimum gratissimum Mitigate Colitis and Protect Against AOM/DSS-Induced Colorectal Cancer in Mice.

Ocimum gratissimum extract reduced colorectal cancer (CRC) tumor load. Continuous administration was more effective than separated administration. OGE also reduced severe colitis, suggesting potential for preventing CRC by inhibiting inflammation.

Attenuation of CFA-induced arthritis through regulation of inflammatory cytokines and antioxidant mechanisms by Solanum nigrum L. leaves extracts.

The study evaluated the anti-arthritic effects of Solanum nigrum L. extracts. Results showed significant pain relief and reduction in inflammation. Extracts regulated inflammatory markers and improved oxidative stress, suggesting potential in treating arthritis.
