Soy protein isolate-based active films functionalized with Zanthoxylum bungeanum by-products: Effects on barrier, mechanical, antioxidant and cherry tomato preservation performance.

This study found that adding ZBLE to soy protein films improved their strength, water barrier properties, UV-light resistance, and antioxidant activities. Films with 5% ZBLE performed the best. The addition of ZBLE also extended the storage time of cherry tomatoes, making it a potential eco-friendly packaging material for food preservation.

GhTLP1, a thaumatin-like protein 1, improves Verticillium wilt resistance in cotton via JA, ABA and MAPK signaling pathway-plant pathways.

Researchers found that the protein GhTLP1 boosts cotton plants' resistance to Verticillium wilt. Overexpression of GhTLP1 in other plants also increased resistance. GhTLP1 interacts with GhLAC14 to enhance resistance, making it a potential target for improving cotton's resistance to the disease.

Bacillus subtilis and Macleaya cordata extract regulate the rumen microbiota associated with enteric methane emission in dairy cows.

Feeding Bacillus subtilis (BS) and Macleaya cordata extract (MCE) to dairy cows increased dry matter intake and milk production, while reducing methane emissions. This study uses metagenomics to understand their impact on rumen methanogenesis.

Comparing DNA isolation methods for forest trees: quality, plastic footprint, and time-efficiency.

The study investigates the genetics of conifer species PM, TH, and TP to understand their population structure and adaptability. The research highlights the challenges of increasing sample sizes, species diversity, nucleic acid isolation, sequencing cost, and plastic waste generation in genetic and genomic studies.

The silver lining of antibiotic resistance: Bacterial-mediated reduction of tetracycline plant stress via antibiotrophy.

Scientists tested the effectiveness of a new bacterium, Erwinia strain S9, in helping pea plants tolerate tetracycline (TET) exposure. They found that supplementation with Erwinia strain S9 improved plant growth, reduced oxidative stress, and degraded TET. This could be a useful strategy for wastewater treatment or improving crop resistance in irrigation.
