Red Kale (Brassica oleracea L. ssp. acephala L. var. sabellica) Induces Apoptosis in Human Colorectal Cancer Cells In Vitro.

Red kale extract reduces cancer cell viability and proliferation, induces cell apoptosis, and may cause cell cycle arrest. Bioactive compounds in red kale contribute to its anti-cancer effect, but more research is needed to understand their specific role.

Methanol Extracts from Cirsium japonicum DC. var. australe Kitam. and Their Active Components Reduce Intracellular Oxidative Stress in Caenorhabditis elegans.

This study explored the antioxidative ability of different parts of DC. var. Kitam. plant. Leaf extracts showed the highest dry weight and all parts contained silychristin and taxifolin. Flower, leaf, and stem extracts reduced oxidative stress, indicating the potential health benefits and use as a silymarin source.

Coumarins from Jinhua Finger Citron: Separation by Liquid-Liquid Chromatography and Potential Antitumor Activity.

Liquid-liquid chromatography was used to separate compounds from fingered citron extract. Five coumarin derivatives were isolated and evaluated for anti-tumor activity, with 5,7-dimethoxycoumarin showing the most potential for inhibiting cancer cell growth. This study informs future research on natural-product-based antitumor agents.

Dandelion Polysaccharides Ameliorate High-Fat-Diet-Induced Atherosclerosis in Mice through Antioxidant and Anti-Inflammatory Capabilities.

Dandelion polysaccharides were found to reduce triglyceride levels, cholesterol levels, and atherosclerotic lesions in mice. They also increased collagen content and antioxidant enzyme activity, while reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines. Dandelion polysaccharides may be beneficial for treating atherosclerosis.
