Polyphyllin VII induces autophagy-dependent ferroptosis in human gastric cancer through targeting T-lymphokine-activated killer cell-originated protein kinase.

Polyphyllin VII (PPVII), a compound found in Paris polyphylla, can inhibit gastric cancer (GC) by inducing autophagy-mediated ferroptosis. PPVII activates the ULK1 pathway, inhibits the activity of the protein TOPK, and stabilizes its inactive form, suggesting PPVII could be a potential treatment for GC.

Cytotoxic Screening and Enhanced Anticancer Activity of Lippia alba and Clinopodium nepeta Essential Oils-Loaded Biocompatible Lipid Nanoparticles against Lung and Colon Cancer Cells.

This study evaluated the cytotoxic activity of plant and herbal essential oils (EOs) against lung and colon cancer cells. The most potent EOs were encapsulated into solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN) to enhance their anticancer activity. SLN/CnEO was found to be safe and significantly increased cancer cell death and inhibition of cell migration.

Dietary Flaxseed and Flaxseed Oil Differentially Modulate Aspects of the Microbiota Gut-Brain Axis Following an Acute Lipopolysaccharide Challenge in Male C57Bl/6 Mice.

Flaxseed can potentially reduce inflammation caused by endotoxins through its effects on the gut microbiota, independent of its content of alpha-linolenic acid. This study suggests flaxseed as a dietary supplement for mental health and neurological disorders.

Tong-Xie-Yao-Fang promotes dendritic cells maturation and retards tumor growth in colorectal cancer mice with chronic restraint stress.

Researchers investigated the effect of Tong-Xie-Yao-Fang (TXYF), a traditional Chinese medicine formula, on colorectal cancer (CRC) accompanied by psychological stress. TXYF improved depression and reduced intestinal symptoms, suggesting its potential as an intervention for CRC patients with psychological stress.

Therapeutic Potential of Syzygium aromaticum in Gut Dysbiosis via TMAO Associated Diabetic Cardiomyopathy.

Gut bacteria imbalance causes intestinal and other diseases. Specific metabolites (like bile acids and trimethylamine) play a role. Elevated levels of oxidized trimethylamine link to cardiovascular disease. Herbal medicines and prebiotics could help restore balance and improve health.
