The Inhibition of Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinases (MAPKs) and NF-κB Underlies the Neuroprotective Capacity of a Cinnamon/Curcumin/Turmeric Spice Blend in Aβ-Exposed THP-1 Cells.

A spice blend of cinnamon bark and turmeric root extracts (CCSB) showed strong antioxidant properties and reduced inflammation in brain cells exposed to β-amyloid. It has potential as a treatment for Alzheimer's disease.

Study finds thyme, cotton thistle, and hawthorn extracts have various properties. Thyme is rich in protein, vitamin C, and antioxidants; cotton thistle is high in moisture and carbohydrates. Extracts can combat bacteria but have limited effect on fungi.
