RNA interference-based exogenous double-stranded RNAs confer resistance to Rhizoctonia solani AG-3 on Nicotiana tabacum.

Researchers used host-induced gene silencing (HIGS) and exogenous dsRNA to suppress Rhizoctonia solani, a pathogenic fungus causing tobacco target spot disease. This could lead to the development of resistant varieties and effective control strategies, reducing worldwide losses.

Protective efficacy of Nerium oleander extract on spermatogenesis in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.

In this study, researchers examined the effects of the hydro-alcoholic extract of leaves on the reproductive health of healthy and diabetic rats. Results showed that lower doses of the extract improved testicular morphology, sperm parameters, and antioxidant levels, suggesting its potential to protect against diabetic-induced spermatogenic dysfunction.

Physicochemical and Functional Properties of Moringa Seed Protein Treated with Ultrasound.

Ultrasonic treatment improved the functional properties of Moringa protein concentrate (MPC). Protein solubility, emulsion capacity, and foaming capacity increased by 42%, 33%, and 73% respectively, compared to untreated MPC. This was due to the exposure of hydrophilic groups and changes in secondary and tertiary structures.

Integrated metabolome and transcriptome analysis identifies candidate genes involved in triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis in leaves of Centella asiatica (L.) Urban.

Researchers conducted a comprehensive analysis of metabolome and transcriptome to understand triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis in leaves. They identified key candidate genes associated with synthesis and accumulation of triterpenoid saponins. This can lead to further research on molecular mechanisms in medicinal plants.

Polygala tenuifolia and Acorus tatarinowii in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Researchers evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of a combination of two Chinese herbal formulas, PT and AT, for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The combination showed potential in improving cognition and functioning without increasing adverse events, but the quality of evidence is low.
