Potential antioxidant, anticholinergic, antidiabetic and antiglaucoma activities and molecular docking of spiraeoside as a secondary metabolite of onion (Allium cepa).

Spiraeoside, a flavonoid found in onions, exhibited antioxidant capabilities similar to BHT but less potent than α-tocopherol, trolox, and BHA. It also showed inhibitory effects on enzymes related to Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, and glaucoma, suggesting potential medicinal applications.

Study on Optimal Extraction and Hypoglycemic Effect of Quercetin.

In this study, scientists extracted quercetin from a certain plant and tested its potential as a suppressor of DPP-IV, a protein involved in diabetes. They found that quercetin had hypoglycemic effects and improved insulin sensitivity in diabetic mice. This suggests that quercetin could be a useful treatment for type 2 diabetes.
