Tangeretin Attenuates Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion-Induced Neuronal Pyroptosis by Inhibiting AIM2 Inflammasome Activation via Regulating NRF2.

Tangeretin (found in Citrus reticulata peel) protects against cerebral ischemia and reperfusion (I/R) injury by inhibiting neuronal pyroptosis via the AIM2 inflammasome and regulating NRF2. TANG could be a potential therapy for I/R injury.

Neuroprotective potential of formononetin, a naturally occurring isoflavone phytoestrogen.

Formononetin, found in legumes and clovers, has shown potential in protecting neurons. It prevents neuronal damage, lowers tau phosphorylation, boosts neurogenesis, increases antioxidant expression, and inhibits inflammation and neurodegeneration. This review explores its biosynthesis and molecular pathways for neuroprotection.

Escin avoids hemorrhagic transformation in ischemic stroke by protecting BBB through the AMPK/Cav-1/MMP-9 pathway.

Escin, found in Aesculus hippocastanum, stabilizes the blood-brain barrier to mitigate hemorrhagic transformation (HT) caused by recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA). Important for safer use of rt-PA in clinical applications.

Efficacy and mechanism study of Baichanting compound, a combination of Acanthopanax senticosus (Rupr. and Maxim.) Harms, Paeonia lactiflora Pall and Uncaria rhynchophylla (Miq.) Miq. ex Havil, on Parkinson's disease based on metagenomics and metabolomics.

Researchers investigated the potential of Baichanting Compound (BCT), a Chinese herbal prescription, to treat Parkinson's disease (PD). BCT contains Acanthopanax senticosus, Paeonia lactiflora, and Uncaria rhynchophylla. This study may provide insights into a novel treatment option for PD.

Lindenane sesquiterpenoid dimers from Chloranthus holostegius with anti-neuroinflammatory activities in BV-2 microglia.

Scientists discovered fifteen previously unknown compounds, called chloranholides F-T, in the Chloranthus holostegius plant. These compounds show promising anti-inflammatory effects, inhibiting the production of the inflammatory mediator NO. Two specific compounds also suppressed the activity of iNOS and COX-2 enzymes.

Gelatin/polyethylene glycol-loaded magnesium hydroxide nanocomposite to attenuate acetylcholinesterase, neurotoxicity, and activation of GPR55 protein in rat models of Alzheimer's disease.

The researchers studied the effects of a magnesium hydroxide nanocomposite on Alzheimer's disease (AD). They found that the treatment improved memory, reduced cholinergic dysfunction, oxidative stress, and inflammation, and activated the GPR55 protein. It also showed potential for targeting AD.

Prophylactic Effects of Hemp Seed Oil on Perimenopausal Depression: A Role of HPA Axis.

This study found that hemp seed oil (HSO) improved depression-like behavior in rats by regulating hormone levels and neurotransmitter function. It suggests that HSO may have potential as a natural antidepressant.
