Differential effects of mindfulness meditation and cognitive training on cool and hot inhibitory control in children and adolescents.

This study compared the effects of computerized mindfulness meditation (MM) and cognitive training (CT) on inhibitory control (IC) in children and adolescents. CT improved cool IC, while MM improved hot IC. MM may have more benefits for emotional competence at a young age.

Garlic essential oil ameliorates depression-like behaviors in unpredictable chronic mild stress by modulating the brain NLRP3 inflammasome pathway and influencing the gut barrier and microbiota.

Garlic essential oil reduces dopamine/serotonin turnover rates, reverses depression in rats, inhibits inflammation, and promotes intestinal barrier function, potentially influencing depression-like behavior.

NPLC0393 from Gynostemma pentaphyllum ameliorates Alzheimer's disease-like pathology in mice by targeting protein phosphatase magnesium-dependent 1A phosphatase.

Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract shows promise in reducing cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease. A specific compound from the extract, NPLC0393, targets a protein called PPM1A, reducing inflammation and tau hyperphosphorylation, and improving communication between microglia and neurons.

Corynoxine B targets at HMGB1/2 to enhance autophagy for α-synuclein clearance in fly and rodent models of Parkinson's disease.

Scientists found that Corynoxine B (Cory B), a natural alkaloid, enhances autophagy to promote clearance of abnormal protein aggregates in Parkinson's disease. Cory B binds to HMGB1/2, increases Beclin 1/VPS34 complex activity, and improves behavioral abnormalities in PD animal models, suggesting its neuroprotective potential.

Anti-inflammatory, anticholinesterase, antioxidant, and memory enhancement potential of Phyllanthus amarus in potassium-dichromate induced neurotoxicity of male Wistar rats.

A study discovered that APALE, derived from Phyllanthus amarus, can protect against neurotoxicity caused by PDc. It improves cognitive function, regulates antioxidants and GABA levels, and reduces neuroinflammation, suggesting its potential as a neurotoxicity treatment.
