Inhibition of Enzymes Involved in Neurodegenerative Disorders and Aβ(1-40) Aggregation by Citrus limon Peel Polyphenol Extract.

Researchers analyzed polyphenols obtained from agro-food industry waste and found that they inhibit key enzymes and reduce oxidative stress in neurogenerative disorders. This study suggests that these compounds could be used in combination with drugs for the prevention and management of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.

Overview on the Polyphenol Avenanthramide in Oats (Avena sativa Linn.) as Regulators of PI3K Signaling in the Management of Neurodegenerative Diseases.

A group of compounds called Avenanthramides found in oats have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic properties. They can potentially modulate the PI3K signaling pathway, which is implicated in neurodegenerative diseases. More research is needed to understand how they work and their potential as a therapeutic strategy.

A small molecule 20C from Gastrodia elata inhibits α-synuclein aggregation and prevents progression of Parkinson's disease.

Scientists found that a compound called 20C derived from Gastrodia elata inhibits the aggregation of α-synuclein, a protein linked to Parkinson's disease. In tests on mice, 20C reduced α-synuclein levels, improved behavior, and protected mitochondrial function. Promising for PD treatment.
