Structurally diverse terpenoids from Elephantopus scaber L. and their acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities.

Researchers isolated three new compounds, elephantopuscabers A-C, and a known compound spirowallichiione from Elephantopus scaber L. Their structures were determined using extensive analysis techniques. Elephantopuscaber B and C showed potential as acetylcholinesterase inhibitors. Molecular docking predicted the binding sites.

Evaluating the role of Ginkgo biloba extract in the secondary prevention of Acute Ischemic Stroke with cerebral microbleeds by Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping(QSM).

EGb 761, a Ginkgo biloba extract, has anti-inflammatory and thrombotic effects. In a study, EGb combined with Aspirin improved blood oxygen saturation in ischemic stroke patients with microbleeds. This combo could be effective for long-term secondary prevention.

Evaluation of berberine nanoparticles as a strategy to modulate acetylcholinesterase activity.

Berberine-loaded solid dispersions (SD) show potential as inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase enzyme (AChE) for neurodegenerative disease treatment, with improved water solubility and cytotoxic effects on tumoral cells. The berberine SD also demonstrated no cytotoxicity/genotoxicity in testing, suggesting it could be a safe option.

Engeletin alleviates depression-like phenotype by increasing synaptic plasticity via the BDNF-TrkB-mTORC1 signalling pathway.

Engeletin from Smilax glabra shows antidepressant-like effects in mice by activating the BDNF-TrkB-mTORC1 pathway, enhancing synaptic plasticity in the prefrontal cortex. Promising as a new antidepressant.
